Entry #81: I ALMOST FORGOT I HAD A BLOG Pt.1

I'm finally back !! AGAIN.
You're probably sick of that statement already but what is life right?
It's falling down and then standing up and try again.
Although there's no restart button in life, there's always a save button on blogger.
Although we can't relive the moment we've recorded but we can always look back and continue from where we stopped ;)
A lot of things have changed since the last time I gradually, unintentionally and regretfully drift off from this space.
Here's a small update on what's been happening in my life since I drifted away.
First of all, I'm halfway through my second semester already and let me say this, things are very different compared to the first semester. Not different structurally but different mentally. There's still lectures that starts in the ungodly hour of the morning and there's still tutorials that ends in the wee hours of the night. There's still assignments that needs to be completed and deadlines that's like an internal time bomb that constantly pushes us to start on our assignment. There's still the plagiarism check and referencing that needs to be done for the assignments. Which I have to say, is really incredibly superbly terribly annoying. There's still mid term tests that we're always unprepared for and there will always be the final exam that we're slightly more prepared for. Not to mention, there will forever be insufficient parking space in Taylor's Lakeside that causes me to be one hour late even though I've arrived in the campus for over half an hour. That dreadful feeling when you're so close yet so far. In the campus but far from class and stuck in the parking area under the scorching hot sun in my bright red car.
Ok, moving on to what's different this time.
In the first semester, we can put all the blame on ignorance and feign innocence when we're in deep shit. We're often excused when we make a mistake cause we're new. Often but not always. For example, because we're just in our first semester, we're relatively unfamiliar to the term referencing. Especially if you're from a full blown exam course like A lvls. Referencing ? WHAT IS THAT SHIT. Plagiarism? ARE YOU EVEN SERIOUS. They probably don't give a shit about these things, I'll just pretend like I don't know. AND THAT, my friends is where I made a grave mistake and score myself a big fat zero for referencing which is a total of five marks. AND YOU DON'T JOKE WITH FIVE MARKS because at the end of the semester, you'll slowly dawn upon the fact that coursework is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because if you did well, you can easily pass the paper and if you score a little better, you can easily get an A. Curse because if you did badly, no matter how hard you studied for the finals, it's almost impossible to score an A and you might just fail the paper. At the beginning of the second semester, I've come to realize that it is our responsibility as students to find out what's happening and how to go about to get it done because we're not in high school anymore, nobody is going to spoon feed us. Now, we still have tutors and lecturers to guide us but when we're out there, we'll be all alone. Now, if we're lucky enough, we may even find friends that would constantly remind us of what's happening like an alarm clock but we can't always rely on them. They are bound to get busy and they too, have a life to live. What I'm saying is this, you should take charge of your own life. Where you end up in the future depends on what you do today. To be honest, I am no model student. I will get sidetracked, I will still procrastinate, I will slack and I will do last minute work. However, this time around, I'll be more aware of my deadlines, pay more attention in class, stop skipping classes and start working on my assignments a few days earlier instead of one day earlier. HEY, at least it's an improvement k ! So far, I only skipped one tutorial class and I didn't score very badly for any assignments. Except maybe, I screwed up my mid term accounting test.

Secondly, I'm mastering the art of make up.
YouTube may just be my greatest make up guru.
You can literally find anything there.
I'll share some make up tips and I'll do a product review soon !! Wait for it.
I should really move on to the third thing on the list but first, let me take a(LOT OF) selfie.
Despite all the make up fails, here's some make up passes.

I've been shopping alot. I mean I've been ONLINE shopping alot.
I have officially expanded my closet.
I now have three closet filled with clothes !

Last but not least, I've been eating alot but what's new?
Eating is a part of our everyday routine after all.

To those who are currently at home, in their pajamas, hungry but yet couldn't find any food around the house, it is not advisable to scroll any further.
Please visit again tomorrow morning.
When you are free to satisfy all your cravings.

I'll briefly run through the places I've been to and the things I ate the past few months.

Departure Lounge.
Open daily from 8A.M - 7P.M
10, Jln SS21/39, Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.

Tried this place out before one of my friends left for Australia.
I was rather disappointed about this place.

The omelette are not fluffy and not light.
It even seems rather dry and unappetizing.

The Aglio Oglio tasted okay but nothing special.
Not to mention, the prawns are a little too much on the raw side.

However, I've heard the place is famous for their coffee.
Maybe you can give their coffee a try next time but definitely not the food.

Miam Miam, One Utama.
Personally, this place is more of a dessert cafe than a restaurant.
It's a fusion of Japanese and French cuisine.

First off, let's talk about this peanut butter banana milkshake. ( RM13.80 )
NEVER order this glass of peanut butter and banana milkshake even though both the still water and sparkling water costs RM9.80 each. Which doesn't make sense at all.
I mean how can still water and sparkling water cost the same. Lol.
You drink one mouthful of the milkshake it's okay, the second mouthful of it is still acceptable, the moment the third one goes down your throat, you'll start to feel 'jelat' already.
So NO.

Matcha Souffle. (RM16.80)
Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
As it entered my mouth, it kind of reminded me of green tea porridge.
Although, it didn't go wrong anywhere, I still couldn't find myself loving it either.

Souffle De Nuage (RM28.80)
Another one of their signature dish.
Tomato rice topped with fluffy clouds of egg and cheese.
A decently baked dish.

Famous French Toast ( RM16.80 )
True to its name, I can see why it's famous.
It's everything a french toast must be.
It's moist, it's light and it's fluffy !
A pile of thickly sliced and squared french toast, piled up high and topped with whipped cream.
If I ever go back for a second try, this will be my pick.
Although, it would have been perfect if it was vanilla ice cream on top.

Fukuya.
No.9 Jalan Delima,
55100 Kuala Lumpur.
Telephone: 0321441022

I ordered the Fuku Fuku lunch.
There is wide selection of dishes that we can choose from in the Fuku-Fuku lunch.
After much consideration, I've settled for the Salmon Sashimi and Beef teriyaki.

The set lunch started off with a salad as an appetizer.
It also comes with a Chawanmushi.
Both are fairly decent.

I've always had this belief that the standard of a Japanese restaurant lies in the freshness of their sashimi and Fukuya's salmon sashimi did not disappoint.
They're sliced at the right thickness and they're fresh.

The beef teriyaki on the other hand, fell a little short.
It's a little too dry and the teriyaki sauce isn't anything special either.

The rice tho. is really good.
It's glutinous and sticky.
And mind you, but I'm extremely particular when it comes to rice.
You can say I'm brought up in a chinese family but yeah, I judge the rice I eat very seriously.

As the finale, seasonal fruits are served as dessert.

Restoran Luen Fong.
No.19, Market Street,
31800 Tanjong Tualang

This place is my family's all time favourite stop on the journey back to our hometown.
You probably don't know this if you've never been there before but Tanjong Tualang is famous for it's freshwater prawn.
The prawns are really fresh and they have really big heads.
When you peel the head off, the egg will be oozing out.

Another thing, this restaurant is famous for tho.
An all time favourite and we never fail to order again and again.
This dish called o' chien.
Chinese style fluffly omelette with oyster.
If you're an o' chien lover like me or you've even travelled to Penang a few times, you'll know that most of the time, o' chiens are cooked with too much corn flour to get the stickiness.
In the end, it just turns out to be slimy. This restaurant however, have mastered the art of frying o' chien.
They don't add corn flour but yet its crispy.
Completely irresistible and an absolute must try !

Let's just end this post with this mini pineapple for now !
Remind me not to slack for too long cause this is what happens, I have too much to say at one time.
Too much has happened for me to recap all.
I ate too too much to talk about every single time I eat because I eat everyday.
Stay tuned for part 2 ! and maybe, part 3 and 4 and so on.
Until I cover everything because I feel like it's wasted if I don't post after taking all those pictures of all those food. This is my responsibility towards all those food that I ate. And then finally, I can delete it and save some space for my computer !

xx,
Kaiwenchim.

Entry #80: Lady in white

Hey guys !
By now, you should realize my pattern already.
I would post consecutively for a few days and then take a break for over a week and then start to spam again.
That's pretty much how my system goes but I will try to post at least twice a week, k?
That's my promise to you.
I'll start with a style post today followed by a food review post tomorrow and finally, an update on my life on saturday.
Recently, I've been absolutely in love with white and I've been splurging.
Right when you think you're safe cause you're staying at home.
There is this thing called online shopping that makes shopping convenient with the click of a button.
People have pre Chinese New Year shopping, I have post Chinese New Year shopping.
Online shopping completely defeats the entire purpose of staying at home to refrain from spending and saving money ! Sigh.
This is bad.
It's dangerous everywhere.
Goodbye Angpau money. You've been very resourceful. If only you never run out.
I'll be the happiest person on earth.

Look No.1 in the Lady in White series.

Iris Eyelet Dress: ShopLAEA
Gold studded military hat: Mooie
Buckle Strappy Heels: Kiss and Tell
Bag: Prada

This oversized white dress literally screams summer, beach and bikinis but since I'm not anywhere near a beach right now, I've paired this Iris Eyelet Dress with a gold studded military hat to create a korean inspired look. To complete the look, the buckle strappy heels in gold and blue adds a touch of elegance and it diverts the look from beachwear to casual wear.

Once a kpop whore, always a kpop whore ?
Back in high school, I was insanely obsessed with the korean scene.
From korean music to korean dramas to korean tabloids. I would literally refresh the korean entertainment news website every 10 minutes until wee hours in the morning.
After waking up, before leaving for school, during school hours , after getting back from school, before going to the toilet, after going to the toilet, before I eat, after I eat, before I sleep. Non stop. Just keep refreshing. Not a single korean gossip will slip through my fingertips and I actually take pride in it.
THANK GOD I'M OVER THAT PHASE.
THANK GOD MY FRIENDS DIDN'T ABANDON ME WHEN ALL I DO IS KPOP ALL DAY ERR DAYYY.

Look No.2 in the Lady in White series.

Regine Romper: Love, Bonito
Thong Sandals: Birkenstock
Bag: Prada

Another piece that I absolutely adore.
This White Regine Romper from Love, Bonito was love at first sight.
I've been on the look out for rompers lately.
However, this was a recently sparked love.
I used to dislike the ideas of rompers for one very crucial reason, the annoying fact that you'll have to remove the entire romper when you're rushing to use the toilet because it's a one piece.
But I've made peace with it. Not to mention, rompers are relatively comfortable so I'll look past the difficulty in removing the romper when using the toilet part.
Just don't wear it when you have diarrhea?

Look No.3 in the Lady in White series.

Checkered Button Down: Topshop
Sleeveless Embellished Crop Top: Topshop
Highwaisted pants: Topshop

Another piece that I'm in love with is this white sleeveless embellished crop top from Topshop.
The embellished details are absolutely beautiful and the top is stretchable and comfortable.
On days you've ate a little too much the day before and you feel a little bloated, throw in a checkered button down to cover up those flabby arms and bulging food baby without being too obvious.
Every girl needs a checkered button down in their wardrobe.
I remember these checkered button downs being a must have item back in high school.
At first, I didn't really fancied this pair of checkered button downs from topshop cause they reminded me of my mom's pajamas a little too much but I've been styling it up differently lately and I've been lovin' it.
Depending on how you style it, these checkered button downs could give off a different feel.
From rocker chic to casual to goth to high street.
Let your imagination run wild and play around with your wardrobe.
What have been in your wardrobe for ages might just turn out to be your greatest treasure.

To end the post,
here's a mini review on 2ne1's new album Crush to commemorate my old days when I was young and obsessed.
It has been on replay in my playlist since the first day of release.

As an opening track, I think Crush totally killed it. Damn right bitches, 2ne1 is back !

Crush
" They love me cause I'm hot, They love me cause I'm cold, They love me cause I'm real, They love me cause I... kill "
If that's not confidence, then I really don't know what is.

Here's what I think about the album, the album clearly depicts the pain of a girl that can't get over her previous love. Like literally an entire part by part process in six songs.
First, the girls will ask their ex boyfriend to come back home because they are so sure it has gotta be him and then, they would constantly question why they were dumped when they were so good to the boy in subject. Eventually, they would scream and escape reality by partying hard to drown the sadness away because they are now free to do whatever they like. Finally, they try to reason out their break up and accept the fact that they're no longer in a relationship. Although deep down they are clearly not happy and they misses him terribly, they hope that their ex beau would be happy and they would always secretly look after him from a far.

1. Come Back Home

2. Gotta Be You

3. Good To You

4. Scream

5. Baby I miss you

A mid tempo ballad that is very pleasant on the ears.

6. Happy

A very cheerful and upbeat track.
From their Lollipop days till today, Dara's hair is always a surprise.

In If I were you, the girls are having unrequited feelings for a boy. They're wishing that the boy they love would live in their shoes for a day and understand the feelings reside within them, hoping that the boy could be in love with them at least once so that the girls could have a closure and move on with no regrets having known what it would be like.

If I Were You
Is it just me or does the beginning when Dara starts singing reminds you of a thousand years?

What I simply love about this album is that they experiment with different styles. For example, in come back home, they started off with reggae and then the beat drops and it deviates to electronic dance music but at the same time, the music doesn't drown their strong vocals.
Furthermore, each song evenly distribute parts between the girls and the quality of each member's distinct voice were showcased. I'm particularly impressed with Minzy's vocals and CL's rapping. They were good previously but they're even better now. Also, I agree that CL should've debuted with MTBD rather than The Baddest Female. My two personal favourites in the album would be Good to you and If I were you followed by Crush.
Of course, that's only my opinion, your opinions might differ from me but give it a listen if you haven't already.

xx,
Kaiwenchim

Entry #79: The Sweater Weather Part 3

Happiness can mean alot of things or it can just mean a glass of wine, a shisha bong, good food and better company.

OR...
it can just mean lamb chop and chicken wings when you're tipsy.
Everything literally tastes like the best shit ever when you're a little cuckoo up there.

Please ah, LOOK AT THAT CHICKEN

THEN LOOK AT THAT LAMB.
Are you drooling now?

People often think of happiness as a destination but the truth is, happiness is when you're content with what you have and when you see the beauty in now. I remember when I was young, I would watch fireworks through the eye of a lens because I'm worried that if I don't record it down, I won't remember the beauty of it all. Eventually after the firework display, I would stand at that exact spot, replay the video and ponder why I'm not happy. That scenario didn't happen once. It happened several times before I realize that, I should be enjoying the moment and bask in the happiness on the spot rather than worrying that the angle is not right, the view is not clear and not to mention ignore the tiredness of my arms. Do not be mistaken. I do love capturing moments as most things don't appear like how we remember it and it's good for sentimental purposes, it's just that sometimes when you're tired and lazy, you don't have to think so much, just enjoy the moment. It doesn't matter whether or not you post a picture on instagram today because at the end of the day, it's about YOU and not about them. Post if you want to. Post if it makes you happy. Do what makes you happy.

Ombre Sweater: Forever 21
Pants: Forever 21
Flats: Melissa x Vivienne Westwood divine pump in nude
Bag: Michael Kors
Bangles: Diva
Hairband and necklace: (unidentified )

(Excuse the bare face...)

A simple and cute number for the last edition to the sweater weather series.
This preppy school girl look will easily take off a few years from your actual age.
DO I EVEN LOOK LIKE I'M TURNING TWENTY ?
I call this final addition the girl in pink.
I can finally stop wearing sweaters in this hot weather and is it me or does it seem even more hazy lately?
Also, I know it's breezy at night but a piece of advice?
Never ever EVER drink wine in a sweater when you're in Malaysia and in an open air space.
I feel like I'm an oven at 175 degrees celsius.
Not to mention, nobody wears sweaters to pubs.
It feels like I'm going to school more. Haha.
Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed the pictures from the sweater weather season !
Hopefully, you'll get some inspiration to style the sweaters that's collecting dust in your wardrobe.
